The Plateau State Government yesterday awarded three contracts worth N5 billion for the construction of roads in several Jos North communities.

The communities include Anguwan Rogo, Tudun Wada, Tina, Dutse uku and Chwelnyap all in Jos north local government area of the state.

The government awarded a contract of N1.5 billion to Letokem Nig Ltd for the construction of Anguwan Rogo to Ali Kazaure while N1.8 billion was awarded to Jolex Nig. Ltd for the construction of Tudun Wada to Mado village and China’s Chinazhonghao was awarded N1.7 billion contract for the construction of roads around Dutse uku, Chanyap, Tina and others.

The state Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Samuel Galadima said while signing the contracts that it was part of Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s promise to the communities and stressed that the contracts were for a 12-month frame and warned that the government was ready to revoke any contractual agreement should the contractors fail to live up to agreement.

Also speaking, the House of Assembly Committee chairman on Housing and Urban Development, Jacob Kasaan urged the communities to work with the contractors and ensure that the contractors work according to specifications.

Senior Ward Head of Angwan Rogo, Musa Abdullahi Maisantana praise Governor Lalong for awarding the contract, saying it had been over 20 years since the last road construction was done in Anguwan Rogo.
