Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has disclosed that his administration will in October begin the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.
This is in fulfilment of his promise to Kwara workers during the electioneering period, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
Abdulrazaq said his administration will pay the new minimum wage because it is already a law in the country and to also show his commitment to the welfare of workers in the state.
“All arrangements have been concluded to begin the implementation of the N30,000 new minimum wage in Kwara. By the end of October 2019, all eligible workers will begin to receive the wages,” the statement said.
The statement said state workers will as from Thursday, begin to receive their September salaries. “This is a clear departure from the past, when workers’ salaries are unnecessarily delayed.”
The governor also promised that the state government would put machinery in place to commence promotion of civil servants, as part of efforts to boost their morale and appreciate their contribution to the development of Kwara.
“Our government will continiue to give civil service priority attention and make it more effective. This is in realisation of the critical role civil servants play in the development of our State.”
