The Recent security challenges that bedeviled Government Science School Kuru culminated to a joint Emergency Meeting on Saturday 18th April, 2022 at the school Staff room comprising of The KOSA National Executives, Set Coordinators, Parents, Teachers and Managment of the School.
The Event reached its Climax with donations of Exercise books, Text Books and Sports Equipment made by Members of Set 1984 and 2000.Barr. Longs lives on as this was demonstrated in the gesture made by members of set 84, They donated about a thousand customised exercise books which carries the photograph of Late Barr. Longs and an inscription ” in Loving Memory of Late Barr. Longs” alongside Sporting Equipment.In his remarks the set Coordinator Mr. Joseph Dung said what really motivated them to donate is to keep to the precepts of Barr. Longs as its what he always does.
Late Barr. Longs until his death was member of set 84 and the National Legal Adviser of Kuru Old Students Association.Years back the School library was gutted by fire and all books and shelves were completed burnt. Set 2000 took up the challenge of donating enough to support and set up a standard library. Mr. Mark Davou Set Coordinator Year 2000 presented the books in his remarks he said it’s embarrassing for a great school such as this to be in existence without a Standard library. That was what prompted members of his Set to donate generously to ensure the were able to purchase enough books to restart the school library. Mr Yohana Davit the school Principal thanked the Old boys for their continued kind gestures and encouraged them to do more as government no longer owned up to their responsibility. National VP 2 . Alh. Bature thanked all set Coordinators Present during the meeting and especially the sets that made donations. He further notified all sets Coordinators of an inventory of needs/Project and call upon them to pick one or two to execute for the benefit of humanity and growth of KOSA.Mr.Mancha The National Vice President 1 on Behalf of the President Dr Musa Ibrahim who was unavoidabily absent thanked the School Managent for their Resilience in ensuring the boys get the best in the midst of the enormous challenge and encourages them to keep faith as things will get better. He further adviced the School Management to be good custodians of all donations made.
