Inline with the Federal High Court judgment to conduct a fresh PDP Primary Elections into Kanke State Constituency, Hon. Jiritmwa Goyit has emerged winner of the repeat Primary Elections ahead of the 2023 general elections in Plateau State.
She emerged winner on Wednesday evening with 19 votes to defeat three other contenders from the repeat party’s primaries held on Wednesday at the Kanke Mini Stadium, Kanke Local Government Headquarters of Plateau State.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee to Kanke State Constituency Re-Run Primy, Hon. Henry Tenebe while declaring winner of the rerun primaries said Hon. Jiritmwa M. Goyit polled 19 votes out of the four Candidates’ and is declared winner of the election.
According to Tenebe, “The Contest is between 4 persons; they are Hon. Shikir Nuhu Caleb, Hon. Jiritmwa M. Goyit, Hon. Wushanka L. Gyigole and Hon. Bedir Godwin Wudapgak.”
He added, “Accredited delegates 26, total votes cast 26, Hon. Jiritmwa M. Goyit pulled a total of 19 votes, Hon. Shikir Nuhu Caleb got 5 votes, Hon. Wushanka L. Gyigole scored 1 vote and Hon. Bedir Godwin Wudapgak got 1 vote respectively.
“Honourable Jiritmwa M. Goyit having scored the highest votes is hereby declared winner of the Kanke rerun elections for Kanke State Constituency today 30th November, 2023.”
Recalled that the Federal High Court sitting in Jos has on Tuesday last week gave a judgement directing a repeat of primary elections by the PDP into Kanke State Constituency within 7 days.
The recent development which brought Hon. Jiritmwa Goyit, a Social and Gender Advocate as the only female candidate in the State going into the 2023 general elections in Plateau state will no doubt be celebrated by women in the state.
