As a result of the twin blast that occured at two motorparks in Jos North LGA of Plateau State on Thursday evening, medical officials have confirmed that 20 persons lost their lives, while 10 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The Deputy Chief Medical Director of Plateau Specialist Hospital, Dr. Philemon Golwa, disclosed this when the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North LGA, Dr. Danjuma Sanda, visited the victims of the blast receiving treatment in the hospital, Friday.
As a result of the twin blast that occured at two motorparks in Jos North LGA of Plateau State on Thursday evening, medical officials have confirmed that 20 persons lost their lives, while 10 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The Deputy Chief Medical Director of Plateau Specialist Hospital, Dr. Philemon Golwa, disclosed this when the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North LGA, Dr. Danjuma Sanda, visited the victims of the blast receiving treatment in the hospital, Friday.
Golwa said, “As at yesterday night, 17 corpses were brought to this hospital, out of which 6 were taken by there relatives.
“Right now, 10 persons are on admission and are responding to treatment.
At Bingham University Teaching Hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Musa Dankyau, said 4 persons were brought to the hospital but 3 died, he added that the other person is receiving treatment.
Speaking earlier, the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North LGA, Dr.Danjuma Sanda, commiserated with the families of victims, assuring them of government support.
However, in a related development, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, has debunked media reports that, 12 students of the institution were killed in the twin blast that occured in two motorparks in Jos North on Thursday.
“We want to clearly say that no student was killed in the twin blast and only one 100 level Medical student sustained minor injuries and she is not in a critical situation, because I have just seen her; she was even talking going to write her exams tomorrow”.
