Jos South Council Boss Presents “Budget of Restoration” for 2025, Focused on Rebuilding the Local Government Area

Jos, Nigeria – February 11, 2025

In a landmark presentation today, the Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council (LGC) unveiled the 2025 budget, themed the “Budget of Restoration: Rebuilding Jos South Local Government Area.” The budget, totaling ₦11,387,396,226.24 (Eleven Billion, Three Hundred and Eighty-Seven Million, Three Hundred and Ninety-Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty-Six Naira, Twenty-Four Kobo), is a bold step toward addressing the challenges facing the area and laying the foundation for sustainable development.

The chairman, widely regarded as a visionary leader, emphasized that the budget is more than just a financial plan—it is a blueprint for transformation. He said “this budget reflects our commitment to restoring hope, rebuilding infrastructure, and empowering our people”.

Jos South LGC has faced significant challenges in recent years, including insecurity, economic stagnation, and inadequate infrastructure. The chairman acknowledged these issues but expressed optimism about the future. “We have endured difficult times, but we are determined to turn the page and write a new chapter of progress and prosperity,” he said.

The “Budget of Restoration” is designed to address these challenges head-on, with a focus on rebuilding critical infrastructure, improving social services, and creating economic opportunities for residents. The chairman stressed that the budget is not just about fixing what is broken but also about investing in the future.

The Chairman noted that the budget will be financed through a combination of revenue streams, including, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Statutory Revenue Allocation, Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations, Value Added Tax (VAT) and Ecological Funds.

The chairman highlighted the council’s efforts to improve revenue collection and ensure financial sustainability.

The budget is divided into recurrent and capital expenditures, with a strong emphasis on addressing immediate needs while investing in long-term development.
