Chairman Christian Association of Nigerian Plateau State Chapter Rev. Fr. f Polycarp Lubo has advised the plateau state governor to listen to the voice of reasoning and plateau people by putting on hold the Controversial planned Partnership Agreement with Jaiz bank to rebuild the burnt Jos main market and make wider consultation.

The CAN chairman stated this during a stakeholders meeting convened by Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong to engage the citizens and get their input into the process of carrying out the project.

He advised the governor to take a part of honour by putting on Hold the planned agreement pending proper consultations and enlightenment, saying the proposed project has generated serious gentian among citizens of the state threatening the existing peace experienced on the plateau.

” Mr Governor Plateau state is bigger than you and me, and this issued has generated tension, there is serious tension in the Land and my advice is for you to put this issue on hold and maker more consultation with traditional rulers, religious leaders and if possible House of Assembly members should go and discuss with their constituents”

According to the CAN Chairman, there was poor sensitization and lack of awareness which is responsible for the action that has led to raising tension, and he suggested that the issue should be put on hold.

“The major issue is the 40 years ownership agreement and the perceived perception of the new generation bank Jaiz which is viewed in some quarters as Islamic thereby leading to the issues degenerating

He further said the sharing formula of the shops for sale in the ratio of 60-40, Period of rebuilding the shops 12 months and cost of the project 8Billion is been questioned in a lot of quarters by citizens

The clergyman urged the governor to see the interest of the Plateau man First before all else.

He appealed for calm as more consultation and engagement should be held for the greater interest of the state.
