Jos crisis: KESSA Staff Adviser Professor Tanko Ishaya Commends Governor Bagudu for releasing N5m relief assistance to 95 Kebbi State students of UNIJOS

The staff adviser, Kebbi State Students Association University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya commends and appreciates the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (Matawallen Gwandu) for promptly approving and releasing the sum of N5 million as relief assistance to 95 indigenes of the state studying in the University of Jos, Plateau State and were stranded due to the crisis.

Professor Tanko Ishaya, who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor(Academic), said the gesture was really apt and timely, which is a clear demonstration of the Governors passion and interest for the safety and welfare of the people of his state. He further confirmed that most of the students have already received the sum of N50,000.00 each directly to their individual bank accounts. He also appreciates the Honourable Commisioner for Higher Education, the Executive Secretary Scholarship Board and the NUKESS President and NUKESS Staff Adviser for keeping in touch with him during the crises.

Following the official suspension of academic activities by the Management of the University, Prof Ishaya confirmed that the students have safely traveled back to their various families. He called on the students to remain calm until further directives of the University Management. He prayed that the Almighty God will restore peace on the Plateau.
