Jos — The Jama’atul Izalatil Bidi’a Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) has refuted claims that the national Chairman, Council of Ulama of the Islamic body, Sheikh Sanni Yahaya Jingir has died.

JIBWIS yesterday described the claim as a false alarm peddled by those who wished to cause confusion.

The social media had been agog over the weekend that the popular Islamic scholar was dead. Blogs and WhatsApp messages circulated, stating that Sheikh Jingir had died around 6pm on Friday after a brief illness.

However, JIBWIS National Publicity Secretary Malam Ahmad Ashiru yesterday said, “We thank all those who called to express their concern over the rumours and assure all Muslims and our teeming supporters that Sheikh Jingir is alive and well.”
