The Riyom Local Government Management Committee Chairman, Mafeng Gwallson, has assured the people of the area of a peaceful farming season.
Gwallson gave this assurance at a peace and security meeting held at the Riyom Local Government chambers.
He said proactive measures have been put in place in collaboration with the security agencies and the traditional council to forestall break down of law and order.
He advised the people of the area to take advantage of the peace being enjoyed in the area to commit themselves into the farming season and cultivate their farms.
Contributing, representatives of the Special Task Force, the paramount ruler in the area and the representative of the Fulani community all commended the present administration at the state and local government levels for their commitment and proactive moves in ensuring that peace returns to their domain without being biased.
In like manner, the council is partnering with the Plateau State Agricultural Development Programme in the area of storage, improved seedlings, mechanized farming, portable drinking water and road construction.
The council chairman made this known when he paid a courtesy call on the programme manager of PADP, Philip Gonap, in his office in Jos.
Gwallson stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure that agriculture takes its rightful place in the country, noting that the council is ready to welcome all ideas from the PADP, aimed at bringing a positive change in Riyom Local Government Area.
Responding, Gonap reiterated the organization’s desire in facilitating the attainment of greater heights by the local administrations in the state.
The Council during the week was at the NYSC secretariat to intimate the State Coordinator on the need to resume posting of corpse Members to Riyom LGA now that peace has returned to the area.
