The Honorable Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency Plateau State, Rep. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D has described Nigerian Youths as National Assets that need to be empowered for national development.

The Federal Lawmaker said it is imperative for the Nation to harness the potentials in the youths in order to achieve socio-economic wellbeing of the Nation.

He made the remarks in commemoration of the 2020 International Youth Day.

The theme of International Youth Day 2020, “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.

As Lawmakers, we will continue to make legislation that will improve the lives of the Youths with priority to human capital development through strategic employment generation, skill acquisition and assisting the youths to achieve their full potentials.

“We will continue to engage the youths meaningfully at the local/community, National and global levels.”

“We will give attention to legislation that will improve the lives of the youths” he said.

He charged the youths to remain positive, optimistic and not be deterred by the enormous challenges confronting the Nation but continue to add value to the Nation saying their roles in national unity, cohesion, prosperity and development cannot be overstressed.
