The traditional ruler of Irigwe Community in Bassa Local government area of Plateau State, Bra Ngwe Irigwe, Ronku Aka of Irigweland, has cried out to the Security Committee of the Plateau State House of Assembly that some attackers are planning to invade some hinterland communities of the council.
Aka disclosed that he was well informed on good security authority that some people who do not mean well for the council are planning to surprise some communities of the council soon. He therefore urged security operatives to be pro-active so they are not caught unawares.
Aka spoke yesterday when the Plateau State House of Assembly Committee on Labour and Security paid him a condolence visit in his palace. He also told the House Committee that after the major attacks, there have been pockets of isolated killings in the hinterlands, areas not covered by security operatives.
He urged government and security operatives to take pro-active measures to nip the impending attacks in the bud so that they do not escalate into full-blown attacks.
National President of Irigwe Cultural Development Association, and former member of the House of Assembly, Sunday Abdu, corroborating the traditional ruler’s claim, said isolated killings in the area are a daily occurrence. Abdu disclosed to The Guardian yesterday that one person who dressed in military uniform was caught by the community, adding that the fake soldier should not be released until pressmen interview him.
As all fingers point at the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association (MACBAN) that it carried out the killings, its chairman in the state, Nura Muhammad Abdullahi has denied any involvement. He said MACBAN wholeheartedly condemned the killings of all innocent lives, destruction of property and also the rustling of cows.
