In continuation of sustained offensive operations against criminal elements within the Joint Operations Area, troops of 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven conducted a deliberate intelligence-driven raid on 12 May 2025 at a suspected bandits’ enclave located in Teng Mountain/Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
During the operation, contact was established with the armed criminals. In the ensuing engagement, the troops employed superior firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of two bandits. A thorough exploitation of the area led to the recovery of the following items: one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one fabricated rifle capable of firing 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and seven rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
Additional items recovered include four mobile phones, two motorcycles, and a cash sum of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred Naira (₦157,900.00) only.
In a statement released by the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, it was disclosed that the recovered arms and ammunition are currently in secure custody. Furthermore, the recovered mobile devices are undergoing analysis to facilitate the identification and apprehension of other members of the criminal syndicate.
Major Zhakom reaffirmed the commitment of Operation SAFE HAVEN to maintaining security in the region, stating: “The activities of these dangerous criminals will continue to be met with decisive and sustained military action. Our troops remain resolute in their mandate to deny criminal elements freedom of action in all areas of operation.”
