Inclusiveness and citizens’ participation, an undeniable element of truthful Democracy: Dr. Mazadu Dader Bako

The return to democratic system of Government from the millitary system of government was for nothing rather than empowering the entire citizenry with thE right, privilege and power to lead by giving mandate to fewer population in order to represent Nigerians’ interest and for the common good of all Nigerians. This has seen Nigerians jubilating that they will no longer be chased around as sheeps but they will be the masters of their fate. Therefore, inclusiveness and citizen participation was an undeniable element of a true democratic government, and still is should we seek an effective result.

Nonetheless, the present day democratic practice in Nigerians may not be what Nigerians’ bargained for or were celebrating. This is because of the lingering doubts and rhetorical questions going in the minds of many Nigerians regarding the genuinity, freeness, fairness and truthfulness in the system, as Nigerians believe that the system that is meant for everyones participation is been hijacked by some powerful minorities.

As we mark the 2021 Democracy day, may I challenge all Plateau people and Nigerians that the agitations for sincere democracy must gather stronger momentum than ever before. It is the system whose process gives voice to the voiceless. Despite its abuse, Plateau people and all Nigerians must be up to the task of practicing it rightly, and with collective efforts we will no longer contest or vote for the wrong reasons.

On behalf of my teaming supporters, my family and I, I enjoin all Plateau sons and daughters both home and in diaspora as well as all Nigerians in celebrating this years Democracy day, I challenge that we owe to the effectiveness of the system. I pray that we experience the dreamt democracy that was fought for. Congratulations once more and best wishes.
