The Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project Plateau State has conducted an intensive training on Digital Health Data Reporting for Officers in-charge and Medical Record Officers of Primary Health Care Facilities from the 207 Federal Wards of Plateau State.
IMPACT Project Plateau State Project Manager, Nrs Kizito Ndak while addressing the Participants during the closing ceremony of the workshop disclosed that the training is aimed at phasing out paper-based reporting and replacing it with computer-based health data reporting by Medical Record Officers in Plateau State for easy access.
According to him, the training will ensure there is ease in data reporting by enhancing speed, timeliness and effectiveness in data reporting for prompt intervention and robust decision-making by policy makers who depend on data.
He said the training is ongoing across the 36 States of the Country including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja to equip the Participants who are Officer in-charge and Medical Record Officers drawn from the Primary Health Care Facilities across the State with skills and knowledge on digital data reporting.
He hinted that the IMPACT Project comprised of four components namely malaria, Immunisation, knowledge for change and the emergency response which are geared towards reducing infant and maternal mortality rates in the State and Nation at large.
This he said will improve the health status of the populace and protect pregnant women and children from Malaria, the killer disease.
He applauded the Plateau State government under the leadership of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang and the World Bank for donating technological equipment and providing the training to enhance the technical know-how of the target officers to collect and report health information electronically away from the paper reporting.
According to him, Governor Mutfwang is committed to achieve a more healthier and productive population in the State.
He emphasized the need for the Participants to constantly practice the lessons learnt from the training and also play advisory role to those seeking medical attention.
He said the data once collected and uploaded goes directly to the District Health Information System (DHIS) nationally which can be accessed by partners to monitor and evaluate the available data.
Facilitator of the training, Benjamin Daniel Shankom, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the IMPACT Project said the training has provided the Participants who are health workers with the experience and knowledge needed for digital reporting of health data at Facility point directly into the DHIS2 which is being deployed in other countries.
He said the impact digitisation training is taking place concurrently across all the implementing States in Nigeria.
He said the Officer in-charge and Medical Record Officers can report about the facilities and utilization real-time.
He said the training is. Welcome development for data reporting not only to the State but Country at large.
Evelyn Machief a Medical Record Officer from Primary Healthcare Centre Jenta Adamu Jos North Local Government Area appreciated the IMPACT Project, Plateau State Government and the World Bank for equipping them and empowering them with the skills and working tools needed for digital health data reporting.
She said she will put the knowledge gained to effective use to achieve the objectives of the projects.
