Following reports that current Deputy Governor Ignatius Longjan of Plateau state was planning to defect to the APC, he has come out on Friday 23rd January 2015 to deny such insinuations saying he remains a member of the PDP.

His rebuttal was contained in a statement signed by Secretary of his Campaign Organisation, Mr Garba Musa, in Jos.

it read ”Our attention has been drawn to a statement that had inundated the social media and the media on alleged defection of the deputy governor of Plateau State. The Longjan Campaign Organisation wishes to categorically refute such insinuations and to state that Longjan is still a bona-fide card carrying member of the PDP.

”We call on our teeming supporters to discountenance such misleading insinuation”, the statement added.

The deputy governor vied to become the governorship candidate of PDP but lost to Sen. GNS Pwajok.

It would be recalled that reports of the Deputy Governor’s defection surfaced following statements credited to the APC chairman in the State Hon. Letep Dabang, who confirmed to journalists that discussions with Ignatius Longjan had progressed to advanced level and that he would soon defect to the APC.
