The Nigerian House of Representatives has given directives to its committees on Federal Character and Inter-governmental affairs to look into the alleged breach of Federal character ethics in the appointment and inauguration of about 120 persons as chairmen and members of the Federal Universities governing councils. The committee has been tasked to mediate with the office of the Secretary of the Federation (SGF) in addressing the grievance.

The resolution of the house was passed as a result of the motion moved by Honourable Bitrus Kaze representing Jos East/Jos South Federal constituency of Plateau State. Kaze bemoaned the situation where Plateau people are discriminated by the Federal Government despite the overwhelming support to the president during the 2011 election. The lawmaker called for a reversal of the action as there was need for the Federal Government to carry every section of the country along in its appointments.
