Graduating students of Command Secondary School, Jos, Plateau State, have been urged to remain worthy ambassadors of their alma mater by upholding the values of integrity, discipline, excellence and responsible leadership wherever they find themselves.
The charge was given during the colourful 39th Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the school’s Assembly Hall.
Speaking as the Father of the Day, the Liaison Director for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Security Agencies in the Plateau State Abuja Liaison Directorate, Hon. Ziphion Chrysanthus, encouraged the graduating students to remain courageous, resilient and steadfast as they prepare for the next phase of life.
He expressed confidence that the sound educational foundation provided by the institution would position them to emerge as strategic leaders and solution providers in Nigeria and beyond.
As part of his support for the institution, Hon. Chrysanthus donated ₦1.2 million during the unveiling of the 2026 ComJos Star Year Book.
Earlier, the Acting Commandant of the school, Lieutenant Colonel Best Evwiehor, described the graduation ceremony as a celebration of hard work, resilience, character and the collective commitment to nurturing young minds for meaningful service to the nation.
He noted that Command Secondary School is not only committed to academic excellence but also to building integrity, leadership, discipline and responsibility in its students.
Congratulating the graduating class, Lt. Col. Evwiehor urged them to remain guided by the values instilled in them throughout their years in the institution.
“As you step into a new chapter, let the values you have acquired here remain your compass,” he advised.
He also commended members of staff for their dedication to the academic and personal development of the students and appreciated parents and guardians for their unwavering support throughout the educational journey of their children.
Delivering the keynote lecture titled, “Preparing Future Leaders for an Artificial Intelligence-Driven World: Opportunities, Innovation and Responsible Citizenship,” Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu (Rtd.) challenged the graduating students to prepare for an AI-driven future by combining technological competence with ethical leadership, sound judgment and an unwavering commitment to humanity.
According to him, the future belongs not merely to those who understand Artificial Intelligence but to individuals who possess wisdom, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
“The future will not be built by AI alone. It will be built by men and women of character who use AI with wisdom, integrity and a deep sense of responsibility. Machines may become more intelligent, but only people can become wise,” he stated.
Rear Admiral Nwatu urged the students to choose wisdom over convenience, integrity over popularity, service above self-interest and excellence over mediocrity, stressing that Artificial Intelligence should always be deployed to improve lives, strengthen the nation and advance humanity.
Representing the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Maxwell Dangana, the Special Guest of Honour, Brigadier General R.T. Apata, congratulated the graduating students on their outstanding achievements, describing their success as a reflection of determination, courage and intelligence.
He encouraged them to uphold the discipline, leadership and values imparted by the institution while remaining committed to lifelong learning despite future challenges. He also commended the teachers and administrators for producing students distinguished not only academically but also in character.
Presenting the graduating class to the Special Guest of Honour, the Vice Principal (Academics), Senior School, Mrs. Mancha-Martins Judith Chundung, disclosed that the school graduated 176 students during the 2025/2026 academic session. She noted that the students had demonstrated remarkable academic excellence, resilience and determination and were well prepared for future endeavours.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Head Boy Uzoma Ikechukwu Victor and Head Girl Chioma Rejoice Mbaji expressed appreciation to the Commandant, teachers and parents for their sacrifices, mentorship and unwavering support.
They pledged to remain worthy ambassadors of Command Secondary School wherever they find themselves, affirming that the institution had equipped them with the knowledge, values and leadership skills necessary to succeed.
The ceremony featured cultural dance performances, academic presentations, the official launch of the 2026 ComJos Star Year Book and the presentation of awards to outstanding students and members of staff for academic excellence, leadership and dedicated service.
In recognition of exemplary character, the Ejeh Idoga Humanity in Action Foundation presented the Kindness and Respect Award, with cash prizes of ₦250,000 each to two students who distinguished themselves through outstanding conduct and positive values.
The event attracted military officers, government officials, parents, alumni and other distinguished guests, who celebrated the achievements of the graduating students while encouraging them to become responsible leaders capable of making meaningful contributions in an increasingly technology-driven world.
