Hon. Yakubu Chocho Emerges PDP Chairman Plateau State Chapter

The Plateau State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) now has a substantive Chairman following the resignation of its former Chairman, Hon. Damishi Sango. He is Hon. Yakubu Gwot Chocho, the State Organizing Secretary of the Party in the State.

His emergence followed a motion moved by Rep. Edward Pwajok, SAN which was seconded by former Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Alams and unanimously endorsed by the PDP Plateau State Executive Committee.

This followed a letter from the PDP Plateau Northern Zone presenting a replacement from the zone to complete the tenure of Hon. Damishi Sango.

Hon. Amos Gombi who was the acting Chairman since the resignation of the former State Chairman appreciated stakeholders, Executives and Members of the party for the supports accorded him and said he is going back to his position as State Deputy Chairman of the Party.

He called on party faithfuls to give the incoming Chairman the much needed supports.

In their separate remarks, Former Deputy Senate President Alh. Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, immediate past Governor of Plateau State His Excellency Da Sen. Jonah David Jang, PDP Candidate in the 2019 Plateau Gubernatorial Poll Sen. JT Useni, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan the National Vice Chairman of PDP North Central and Hon. Damishi Sango resolved to work for the interest and progress of the party in order to reclaim power in 2023.

They thanked all those who played critical roles to ensure that the leadership crisis is resolved especially Members of the National/State Assembly and other key stakeholders in the State.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP Lawmakers in the National Assembly, Rep. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D said the day was a day of joy for the PDP and mourning to the APC because of the unity demonstrated by party Elders and Party Faithfuls.

He charged Members on more unity and unalloyed loyalty.

Hon. Nanbol Lipstick Daniel, Member representing Langtang North Central who spoke on behalf of State Lawmaker said they are fulfilled and will do anything possible to see that the party succeeds. He called on Members to support the Leaders and Elders of the Party.

Speaking after his emergence, Hon. Yakubu Gwot Chocho thanked all party Leaders and Members for believing him and making him the State Chairman of the Party.

He promised to carry all along and make sure that the forthcoming Congresses in the State are credible, transparent and acceptable. He said together with other party Executives, leaders & members, they will build a stronger, better and greater Party.

The PDP Plateau State Executive Council Meeting which held at the State Secretariat Yakubu Gowon Way Jos was well attended by key stakeholders and Leaders of the party both at the State and National Level.
