Hon. Timothy Dantong has emerged the flag bearer of PDP for Riyom Constituency.
He came top in the Primary election which held at MDG Hall Rahoss Riyom LGA.
Hon. Dantong pulled 56 Votes to clinch the Ticket while his closest contender, Mr. Ishaku Chuntai scored 40 Votes, Former Commissioner of Education during the Dariye’s administration, Hon. Alex Chup got 8 Votes and 2 invalid votes were recorded.
104 Delegates in the 10 Federal Wards were accredited for the Primaries out of 108 Delegates.
Chairman of the election, Mr. Joseph Gonzuk declared Hon. Dantong winner having scored the highest Votes.
The election took place under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC.
Hon. Dantong in his acceptance speech after being elected thanked the Party, PDP for the level playing ground and said he will work with all those who contested along with him.
He promised to provide credible and result oriented leadership if elected in the general elections.
He said PDP remains the best party and admonished members to work towards regaining power at all levels. He said the victory is for all as there is no victor, no vanguish.
5 Aspirants were to take part in the Primaries but two (2) namely Hon. Wycliff Wanson and Hon. Dama Song withdrew from the race and their withdrawal letters were read before the delegates and officials present.
The election was adjudged peaceful, transparent, credible, free, fair and generally acceptable.
