Hon. Timothy Dantong and Hon. Musa Agah Visits Attacked Village, Kangboro

Following the attack that left four persons dead and many houses burnt in Kangboro Village of Riyom LGA, Plateau State, the Member representing Riyom Constituency Hon. Timothy Dantong and his Counterpart representing Rukuba/Irigwe Constituency in the Plateau State, Hon. Musa Agah have visited the affected community to condole with the people for the unfortunate incident.

While empathizing with the people, the Members described the killings and burning of houses as wicked, callous and barbaric, the Members encouraged them to place their trust and confidence in God.

The Members consoled with the people and admonished them not to vacate the community. They said the motive of the attackers is to make them leave so that the can illegally occupied their lands as has always been the case.
They urged the people to remain vigilant and ensure they report strange movements to law enforcement agencies.

They prayed for the souls of those killed to rest in peace and speedy recovery to those injured.

They said the House has constituted a Committee that will visit the community and report to the House for swift response.

They said they are standing with the people in this most difficult time.

The Members decried the total absence of security personnel in the village after the attacks and killings thereby leaving the inhabitants more vulnerable.

The Members jointly condemned the attacks, killings, burning of houses, looting of property and mowing of crops by the attackers in strong terms.

They decried the dimension the dastard acts are taking, calling on government at all levels and security agencies to live up to their constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives and property, enforcing the arrest of the culprits and ensuring that justice is dispense accordingly to serve as deterrent.

They said there is urgent need for security and humanitarian interventions to give hope to the people affected.

The Villagers thanked the Lawmakers for their timely visit and display of empathy.

They prayed God to give them wisdom and more capacity to lead well.

The villagers reported that the attackers have been using the mountains surrounding them as hide out and they have been reporting to the security Agencies yet no action is taken.

They also asked the Lawmakers to speak to government to provide them with adequate security and relief materials.
