Hon. Nicholas Kemi Nshe Declares For Plateau PDP Gubernatorial Ticket
JOS – Former Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, Hon Nicholas Kemi Nshe on Wednesday declared interest to contest the Plateau State governorship ticket on the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the 2019 general elections.
Nshe’s declaration sparked celebrations and created traffic gridlock in the major streets of the town, with enthusiastic fans burning brooms to signify the death of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the area.
Nshe took his governorship ambition beyond the realms of speculation and rumour when he made official declaration at his PDP Shendam ‘A’ Ward, along Mikang Road in Shendam urban, and later at the PDP Local Government secretariat along Yelwa Road amidst a surging and jubilant crowd.
Accompanied by former Local Government Councils chairmen that are apostles of the Jonah Jang Redemption ideological school, former councillors, and fresh acquaintances, Hon Nshe was received by a cheering crowd of PDP faithful five kilometres southward of Shendam Town, along Jos Road,
before driving in an intimidating and attention-arresting motorcade that dragged for almost two hours to empty itself through the town to the venue of declaration at PDP Shendam Ward ‘A” at about 2.47pm.
The gubernatorial aspirant was also at the Palace of the paramount ruler of the Gamai, the Long Gamai, Martin Shaldas 111, for royal blessings.
Nshe told the Royal father that he is in the race “because of the future of Plateau, which is to preserve the heritage and values of the people, and give hope to the next generations”.
Responding, the Long Gamai said as the father of all the Gamai, it was only dutiful for him to receive the aspirant even without notice, but insisted that the aspirant must be certain that his ambition bears positive impact for the generality of the state in terms of unity, equity, and justice for all.
Addressing supporters after the completion of formalities at the PDP Local Government secretariat, an elated Nshe, steered the hornets’ nest when he reminded the crowd that Shendam is also the home of the incumbent governor, Simon Bako Lalong.
He said: “You can all see. If we can have this quality of crowd in spite of the short notice, it means something is fundamentally wrong somewhere, and something is fundamentally right somewhere”.
