Member representing Kanke Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Jacob Kassam has distributed 8,000 fingerlings with fishing equipments to 40 members of his constituency to key into the Agricultural revolution of the Lalong led Government to improve their economic status and add value to their communities. The presentation took place at the 1 day fish farming management training for his constituency members.
The law maker said the 40 participants selected are not base on party affiliation and provided them with 200 fingerlings each and other start up techniques, stated that the initiative is part of his contribution in complimenting the government effort in Agriculture, youth empowerment and assured of more participants in the next set with a call on the selected beneficiaries to take advantage of the gesture to improve their economic status and add values to their to their communities.
On his part, the facilitator Tonga Joseph at the training noted that fish farming is simple and can be engage by anybody and it does not need much capital to start with and can be done within ones backyard.
He stressed that for them to succeed in the fish farming business, they must be committed and have personal interest in following the rules.
He noted that the gain in fish farming is worth the investment while the lost is minimal. On their part the beneficiaries promised to put in their best by utilizing the opportunity to become self reliant.
The participants were thought on various tools needed in fish management techniques to enable them withstand challenges and have a better yield at the end of the harvest.

Hon. Kassam was accompanied by the state Deputy Chairman of PDP Hon. Amos Gombi, Hon. Chief John Ishaku Gotau Maikudi, Hon. Nde Simon Ngwan, Hon. Nde Monday Jatau and Hon. Benedict Shiknuhul PDP chairman central zone, The program was well attended by constituents, party stalwarts of all political parties in Kanke amongst whom are the APC chairman of Kanke Nde Kassam Lar, Nde Geoffrey YILLENG, Nde Joseph Gonsum, acting chairman of PDP in Kanke Nde Tongji, Chief Bobo and many others.
