As political activities gradually gathered momentum ahead of the forthcoming elections, stakeholders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State turned their attention to the screening exercise for aspirants seeking to represent their constituencies at the National Assembly.
Among those who appeared before the party’s House of Representatives Screening Committee in Abuja was Hon. Gwani Muhammad Adam Alkali OON, a seasoned politician and former Member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency.
The atmosphere at the screening venue reflected the seriousness of the process as party leaders and committee members engaged aspirants on issues bordering on leadership capacity, legislative experience, grassroots mobilization, and commitment to the ideals of the party.
Hon. Alkali, known for his experience in public service and political leadership, confidently presented his credentials and outlined his vision for quality representation, inclusive development, and effective legislative engagement for the people of Bassa and Jos North.
Observers at the exercise noted that his appearance before the committee demonstrated not only preparedness and competence, but also a strong understanding of the expectations of the party and the people he seeks to represent. His interactions with the committee reportedly reflected his commitment to advancing policies that would promote peace, development, youth empowerment, and improved welfare for constituents.
Party supporters who accompanied him to Abuja expressed optimism that his experience and political pedigree would strengthen the party’s chances in the constituency. They described him as a leader with the capacity to unite diverse interests and effectively represent the aspirations of the people at the Green Chamber.
The screening exercise forms part of the APC’s internal democratic process aimed at presenting credible and capable candidates for elective positions, as the party continues preparations for the electoral contest ahead.
Also screened by the Committee is Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation and Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency Kano State.
Hon. Kabir bagged the Reps of the Year 2024 Award.
Democracy Heroes Award Africa conferred the award on him in recognition of his contributions towards the enrichment of democratic norms in the Nigerian society including offering sponsorships to his constituents in Bichi Local Government at all levels and provision of infrastructure developments in the area, among others.
