HON. BENI BUTMAK LAR: IT IS TIME TO GO – Ponsah Dadi Zingkong

Israel’s longest serving Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is fighting to retain his position as prime minister but the odds seem not to be in his favour. His opponents are forming coalition to defeat him and if they succeed, Israel would have yet another election within 2years; making it the fifth election the country would conduct.

Benjamin Netanyahu is already complaining of electoral fraud just like his buddy, Donald Trump.

A people can be conquered on many fronts but one easy way to conquer a people is to make a person look they’re the best that society needs to move ahead. And those with the arrogance of this notion are crafty in using the democratic process to manipulate their ways into power. Just like the popular saying, ‘familiarity breeds contempt’.

The member representing Langtang North/South at the lower legislative chamber, Hon. Beni Butmak Lar has been representing the good people of the federal constituency for the fourth time making her the longest serving lawmaker in constituency and Plateau State. But as to whether she has performed is much in doubt.

Parliamentarians the world over take for granted the legitimacy given them by people to serve them. The one and perhaps only way they do this is tokenism; giving people peanuts for them to stay in power and that is utter disregard for the people.
That has been the political game and secret of Hon. Beni Butmak Lar!

The constitution review process as coordinated by the House of Representatives exposed the yearning and misgivings of how Hon. Beni Butmak Lar has fared in representation; that people of Langtang South made presentation alleging that she has gotten over ₦50B since when she assumed office to date; but how better has/is life for the people of Langtang South a part of her constituency?

What is the state of public infrastructure in Langtang North/South? If not tokenism, why can’t she focus, since she has had the time on lobbying for basic infrastructure to make life meaningful for her constituents? But because of her crafty politicking focused on lobbying to give people ‘jobs’?
Of what good is having money without infrastructure to enjoy one’s wealth? This is typical of a tokenist politician!

If for about 16years of representation she can’t achieve or lobby for much then it’ll be in doubt that she’ll work when given another opportunity. Because of socio-economic status of the society, people mis-address her as a heroine. Giving jobs is not one of the constitutional roles of a lawmaker and so that shouldn’t be the focus of any lawmaker.
Hon. Beni Butmak Lar has carved out the easy path for herself of not doing but exploiting the socio-economic status of the people.

The brave, courageous Taroh people have demonstrated to the world that they’re liberal to values the world is trying to adopt now. That a woman has been given the opportunity to serve for about 16years is a perfect way to buttress the point.

It is now time to allow a new person with fresh ideas serve the good people of Langtang North/South federal constituency because Hon. Beni Butmak Lar has demonstrated that over time, one’s idea becomes stale and unhealthy for the survival of society.
