Hon. Alex Isaac Dagul Uniting the People Through Sports

In his effort towards promoting unity, peaceful coexistence as well as talent-hunt, Hon. Alex Isaac Dagul popularly known as “Pounds & Dollars” a businessman and PDP Councillorship Frontrunner for Zawan ‘B’ Ward Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State has been organizing Football Competitions. This Year was not an exception as the Football Competition with 18 participating Teams which started in April, 2024 culminated into the Finals on 2nd June, 2024.

The finals of the Second Edition of the Tournament which held at RCM Primary School Football Field Zarmaganda Jos South Local Government Area saw Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) FC defeating Sporting Boys FC Dadin Kowa 10 – 9 in a penalty shootout.

Hon. Alex in his remarks acknowledged the place of sports in fostering unity, harmonious living which according to him are capable of engendering societal growth and progress.

He disclosed that the annual initiative is aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence, addressing restiveness and hunting Football Talents who can add value to the game both locally and internationally. He urged the Youths to put their talents to proper use to be useful to themselves and the society.

Former Senate Minority Leader who was Special Guest of Honor at the event described Football as a unifying Factor and commended Hon. Alex Isaac for the great initiative which he said is capable of transforming the area positively having brought people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Represented by Friday Bako, Sen. Mwadkwon said youths are persons with multidimensional talents, skills and capacities that must be harnessed in a fit environment to achieve their full potentials at appreciable levels. He lauded the high sense of discipline, teamwork, skills and talents demonstrated by the players throughout the Tournament. He encouraged the Organizer to sustain the tournament and improve on the weaknesses noticed to make future tournament better.

Former Member Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Hon. Dachung Bagos who was represented by Henry Pam lauded the idea which he said is capable to igniting better unity and greater love among the People.

He admonished the People to embrace peaceful coexistence at all time.

Corinthian FC earlier got the Third Place.

The Tournament was well attended by Representatives of the Plateau State Football Association, Community Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youths, Women, Elders and Football Lovers across the length and breadth of the State.
