Group launches app to promote food production, consumption

A group, Simplicity Concept Nigeria, has launched a special App, ”The Food Plug” to promote food production, distribution and consumption in Nigeria

The Founder of the Concept Mr Samuel Williams who spoke at the event in Jos on Tuesday, said that the initiative would connects food producers directly to consumers.

Williams, who decried the unwholesome activities of middlemen, said that the app would enable farmers to advertise their products to consumers with ease.

”The Food Plug is a platform that connects food producers to consumers directly. It will eliminate the activities of middle men in food production because they are really reaping from the sufferings of the food producers,”he said.

He further explained that the platform would enable farmers upload their products and consumers could buy directly without going through another person.

The team leader added that the initiative would enable farmers access funds in form of loans, adding that such would promote mass production and creat job opportunities

”Our aim is to use this platform to empower farmers and to integrate retailers such food vendors with food producers across the country. So, this platform is designed to address the gaps that exist in the food production value chain

”But most importantly, this initiative will create job opportunities for teeming young people,”he added.

Williams explained that the app is being hosted in a secured server, insisting that scammers would not invade the site.

He also said that the organisation is in partnership with Arik Airline and Bolt, who handles all its international and local deliveries, respectively.

Earlier, in a keynote address, Hon. Dan Majang, the Plateau Commissioner for Information and Communication, commended the group for the initiative.

He lauded the initiative, particularly that the group is largely made of young people, adding that goverment alone cannot create jobs for the teeming graduates.

Majang assured the group that government would support and create an enabling environment for the initiative pull through.
