Governor Mutfwang Renders Final Respect to Late Long Pan, Nda Emmanuel Daboer Dabang, Calls for Unity in the Selection of a Credible Successor

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has described the passing of His Royal Highness, Nda Emmanuel Daboer Dabang, the Long Pan of Pan Chiefdom and President of the Qua’an-Pan Traditional Council, as a monumental loss, not just to the people of Qua’an-Pan, but to Plateau State as a whole.

The Governor made the remark during the funeral rites of the revered traditional ruler held at the Long Pan’s Palace in Ba’ap, Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area.

Governor Mutfwang urged the people of the chiefdom to remain united and to select a fair, credible, and visionary leader to continue the legacy of peace, justice, and unity left behind by the Late Long Pan. He assured the gathering that his administration is committed to ensuring justice and inclusivity in traditional leadership matters.

“I have received the report of the committee set up to address issues surrounding the creation of districts and chiefdoms. We will study it thoroughly and consult widely with the aim of repositioning the traditional institution to its rightful place of dignity and honor,” he stated.

The Governor noted that although Plateau State came late into the practice of formally installing traditional rulers, it is time for the institution to be empowered to play its vital role in the state’s development.

“This is an institution that has come to stay. For too long, our traditional rulers have been relegated to the background. The time has come to elevate their relevance and restore their pride of place in society.”

Governor Mutfwang extended heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the people of Qua’an-Pan, and the entire state on behalf of his family and the government.

“Nda Emmanuel Daboer Dabang was a man of peace, a man of honor, and a unifier. He lived a life devoted to God and humanity. As the third Long Pan, he left behind valuable lessons, enduring legacies, and indelible footprints in the sands of time. It is my earnest prayer that God grants the people of Qua’an-Pan a worthy successor who will lead with integrity and wisdom,” he added.

The Governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to fulfilling the campaign promises made to the people of Qua’an-Pan, particularly in the areas of road construction and other life-changing infrastructural projects.

Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council, Hon. Christopher Audu Manship, paid glowing tribute to the late traditional ruler, describing him as a man whose reign was marked by wisdom, courage, and a steadfast commitment to peace and development.

“Late Nda Emmanuel Daboer Dabang was more than a traditional ruler, he was the conscience of our people, a rallying point for unity, and a beacon of cultural identity. His leadership brought remarkable synergy between the traditional institution and government structures. He was a pillar of strength to my administration, always offering fatherly guidance and wise counsel,” Manship said.

He expressed appreciation to the Governor for gracing the funeral with his presence, saying it offered great comfort to the people of Qua’an-Pan.

Also speaking, His Royal Highness, Miskoom Engr. Safiyanu Allahnana Magaji III, the Long Jan of Jan Chiefdom, pledged the unwavering support of his people to the Governor and prayed for continued wisdom and strength in the course of his leadership. The revered Mishkaham Mwaghavul, Da John Putmang Hirse and other traditional rulers were in attendance.
