In a bid to strengthen unity and foster a sense of brotherhood, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has hosted the Plateau State community in Abuja, urging them to work together to attract the maximum development necessary for the growth of the state.
Addressing leaders and traditional rulers of the various ethnic nationalities resident in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed profound gratitude for the steadfast support he received from them during and after his election.
He acknowledged the sacrifices, prayers, and valid suggestions made by patriotic Plateau citizens during the legal battles that followed the election which culminated in his victory at the Supreme Court.
Governor Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to use the state’s lean resources judiciously, not only for the development of the people but also for liberating the state from the clutches of poverty.
He provided a detailed account of how Plateau State was on the verge of collapse before his emergence and assured that he is dedicated to positioning the state on the path to glory.
He highlighted significant strides made by his administration in revitalizing tertiary institutions in the state. These include securing accreditations for Plateau State Polytechnic, the College of Education Gindiri, and Plateau State University, Bokkos, as well as approving the commencement of the Faculty of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Governor Mutfwang also identified Agriculture, Mining, and Tourism as critical economic drivers for Plateau State’s revitalization. He announced plans to collate data on farmers for effective distribution of farming inputs adding that efforts are underway to commence the Special Agro-Processing Zone project by the African Development Bank in the state.
The Governor also revealed that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is working to upgrade the Yakubu Gowon Airport into a Cargo Airport, aimed at facilitating agricultural exports.
The Governor addressed the dangers of unregulated mining activities, stating that his administration would introduce legislation to curb the menace. Recognizing Plateau State’s immense tourism potential, he promised to rejuvenate key infrastructure such as the Hill Station Hotel, Plateau Hotel, and the Jos Abattoir to boost tourism and economic growth.
Speaking on behalf of the Abuja Liaison Directorate, the Coordinator Engr. Danjuma Mwantok thanked the Governor for creating the platform to unify Plateau residents in Abuja. He described the engagement as a vital step toward fostering collaboration across all ethnic groups from the state.
On their part, representatives of the three senatorial zones, Prof. Amoga Gideon (Plateau North), Mr. Asabar Golar (Plateau Central), and Mr. Dajan Camir (Plateau South), commended Governor Mutfwang for his exemplary leadership.
They noted the significant developmental strides achieved within his short time in office and pledged their loyalty while urging him to sustain his transformative agenda.
