Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed his deepest condolences to the Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, over the passing of his stepmother, Hajiya Hauwa Mohammed Duguri.
During a condolence visit to the Bauchi State Government House, Governor Mutfwang conveyed his grief, describing Hajiya Hauwa as a role model and beacon of hope. He acknowledged her pivotal role in nurturing Sen. Mohammed into an exemplary leader and extended his sympathies to the people and government of Bauchi State.
“Death is inevitable, but the loss of a loved one is always painful, regardless of their age,” Governor Mutfwang said. “We submit to the will of God that Mama’s time has come. All we can do is accept it as His will and pray for strength to bear the void her departure has left. May God grant you and your family the fortitude to endure this profound loss.”
Governor Mutfwang also emphasized the importance of fostering unity between Plateau and Bauchi States, reiterating their shared heritage and history. “We are one people, divided only for administrative purposes,” he said. “Now more than ever, particularly in Northern Nigeria, we need to strengthen bonds of unity to overcome challenges like insecurity and move forward as a people.”
He commended Governor Mohammed for his inclusive leadership and efforts to promote peace and equity. “There is no benefit in insecurity, whether fueled by religion or ethnicity. We must all learn from leaders like you, who govern with fairness and the fear of God.”
On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang prayed for comfort and strength for Governor Mohammed and his family during this difficult time.
In response, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude for the visit, which he described as a profound act of solidarity and empathy.
“Your Excellency, we are deeply touched by your early-morning visit, which reflects true brotherhood and unity,” Governor Mohammed said. “This gesture will remain indelible in our hearts. Your words of encouragement and the delegation you brought symbolize the affinity between our states and reinforce the bond we share.”
He praised Governor Mutfwang as a bridge-builder and visionary leader, adding, “Your leadership has inspired many. You are addressing longstanding challenges in Plateau State and delivering impactful developmental projects. This is how great leaders are made – by prioritizing inclusiveness and improving the quality of life for the people.”
Governor Mohammed assured Governor Mutfwang of continued collaboration to promote peace and development, pledging his support in addressing shared challenges. “We are one people, and together we will ensure unity and progress for our states and the nation,” he concluded.
The visit reinforced the commitment of both leaders to fostering peace, inclusivity, and development for the benefit of their states and the nation at large.
