Gov. Mutfwang Extends Support to Displaced Persons as He Visit Communities of Recent Violence in Mangu, Appeals for Peace and Unity

In an effort to halt the cycle of violence and restore enduring peace to communities affected by terrorist attacks, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang undertaken an assessment of the recent security breach in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Accompanied by heads of security agencies and key government officials, Governor Mutfwang toured the impacted communities, starting with Kwahaslalek, a village where numerous lives were lost, and Mangu metropolis, where homes and livelihoods were ravaged.

The Governor later paid a condolence visit to Mishkaham Mwaghavul, HRH Da John Putmang Hirse, at his Palace in Mangu. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Mangu local government area, condemning the needless carnage.

He called for dialogue among community leaders to address divisive issues and prevent violence. Governor Mutfwang assured residents of government’s steadfast support. He emphasized the need for unity, urging the populace to resist individuals exploiting youths for personal gain.

“I want to assure the people of Mangu local government that the government of Plateau state will do all it can to ensure that external aggressors are kept away. We will also deal decisively with criminal elements among us. This is the time to preach forgiveness and unity,” Governor Mutfwang stated.

The Governor outlined government initiatives to combat drug-related criminal activities, and warned those profiting from the sale of drugs and narcotics. He pledged a strategic plan to tackle the menace of drug addiction in the state.

Responding to the Governor’s visit, HRH Da. John Hirse commended him for sympathizing with the affected people. He urged Governor Mutfwang to remain focused despite attempts to distract him, and emphasized the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts.

Governor Mutfwang, after his assessment in Mangu, convened a meeting with stakeholders in Bokkos Local Government Area. He also visited Internally Displaced Persons who survived recent attacks, assuring them of the government’s commitment to facilitating their return home and fostering a speedy recovery.
