Gov. Mutfwang denies 60:40 APC sharing Deal…

Dakwom Makpring Longgul reports from JOS, NIGERIA

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has broken his silence to firmly refute widespread social media speculation regarding a rumored power-sharing agreement with the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his recent alignment with the party.

Addressing party members and stakeholders, Governor Mutfwang dismissed claims that a “60:40 ratio” was negotiated to divide political appointments and candidacies between his supporters and established party members.

”I did not do so,” Mutfwang stated explicitly. “Let the matter be settled once and for all: it never happened, it has not happened, and it will not happen.”

The Governor emphasized that the representation within the party naturally reflects both incoming members and existing party stalwarts, noting that legacy members still hold the majority of political opportunities.

”Almost 80% of those in the APC escort today are people we met in the party. So, we didn’t shortchange anybody,” Mutfwang explained. “Take the House of Assembly, for example: as I speak to you today, out of the 24 candidates who emerged in the APC, 16 are APC legacy members. Only eight of those who crossed over from the PDP with me became candidates. Are we fair? Are we fair? Are we fair?”

Calling for complete unity within the state’s political landscape, the Governor urged party members to abandon internal divisions and work as a cohesive unit moving forward.

”The time has come—and indeed, the time is now—for us to end the dichotomy between the ‘Governor’s Group’ and the ‘Legacy Group.’ We are one big family,” he declared.

Illustrating his administration’s focus on competency over political factionalism, Mutfwang highlighted upcoming cabinet selections based on individual merit rather than prior political affiliations.

”To illustrate this: Prince Mafiam here, I have always known him as an APC member. Is that not true? I never knew him in the PDP—maybe he was there before I became governor, but I met him in the APC. Today, he is becoming a commissioner, not simply because he is in the APC, but because we believe he has something to offer,” Mutfwang said. “We will continue to look out for people who have the capacity to add value and bring them into the governance space.”

Closing his address, Governor Mutfwang signaled a swift transition to focus on administrative duties, instructing members of his cabinet to prepare for impending reassignments.

”As the Secretary to the State Government releases the new postings tomorrow, I charge all members of the State Executive Council to ensure an effective handover in their respective ministries by Wednesday next week. This will allow us to fully focus on the business of governance.”
