Gov. Mutfwang Congratulates Alhassan Yahaya on His Election as NUJ President

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated Alhasan Yahaya on his election as the new National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Governor Mutfwang in a congratulatory message signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs Gyang Bere commended the election of Yahaya and his team, including the Deputy National President, Abimbola Oyetunde, during the Triennial Delegates Conference held in Owerri, Imo State. He urged them to uphold the principles and values of journalism as the moral compass of society.The Governor encouraged the newly elected NUJ leadership to bring fresh perspectives to the media landscape by leveraging the potential of new media to promote the nation’s image and untapped opportunities.

Governor Mutfwang expressed optimism that with the cooperation of media practitioners and their commitment to professionalism in holding public officeholders accountable, Nigeria could reclaim its lost glory and achieve its rightful place in the global community.

He highlighted the critical role of the media in the restoration of democracy and its continued contribution to good governance. The Governor emphasized the importance of ethical journalism in shaping a progressive society.

Governor Mutfwang also commended the peaceful conduct of delegates at the conference and wished them safe travels to their respective destinations.

On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, the Governor expressed confidence in the new NUJ executives, urging them to serve the profession with truth and integrity for the greater good of the nation.
