Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong on monday said his determined would continue to enhance its capacity and track record of prudence, accountability and transparency in expending public funds.

He made this known in Jos while signing the 2020 Plateau budget tagged Budget of rescue and infrastructural consolidation into law .

Lalong said ” You are aware that earlier this month, the 2nd Corruption Survey Report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) ranked Plateau State as the second least corrupt State in Nigeria.

This is a great record that we must sustain as we empower and strengthen the work of the Treasury Single Account (TSA); the Efficiency Unit and Bureau for Public Procurement which all work towards vetting procurements and ensuring that there is no wasteful and exaggerated spending.”

Lalong also said his administration has since approved the membership of the Liquidity Management Committee to ensure prudent management of and allocation of scarce resources to key government programmes and projects in line with the Strategic Development Plan of this administration.

He also said The Project Monitoring and Result Delivery Unit (PMRDU) has also been mandated to ensure diligent tracking of Projects and Programme implementation by all the MDAs.

” Let me assure members of the Legislature that we as the Executive will cooperate with you fully to see that the budget is faithfully implemented so as to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people.”

The Governor also said he has therefore directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to fully cooperate with Members of the House who will in course of the year be embarking on oversight visits to follow up on the implementation of the budget.

“I have already directed that efforts be made to ensure the early preparation and presentation of the 2021 Appropriation Bill to the House of Assembly by at least, September 2020 to ensure we maintain the tempo of development.”

“This budget is fashioned in line with the implementation of our Rescue Administration’s Three-Pillar Policy of Peace, Security and Good Governance; Infrastructural Development; and Sustainable Economic Rebirth.”

” I am happy that the Honourable House of assembly has demonstrated enormous responsibility and patriotism in painstakingly scrutinizing the budget proposal and engaging relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies to defend their submissions.
