PRESS STATEMENT

GOVERNOR KIKSTARTS PROJECTS COMMISSIONING.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has commenced the commissioning of some projects carried out by his administration and the inspection of others which are still ongoing.
He commenced the commissioning on Friday June 12th, 2020 where he inaugurated the Operation Rainbow Security and Surveillance Centre at Jos Jarawa (Dutse Uku).


He said the Surveillance Centre is part of reinvigorating the security architecture of the State and laying the foundation for Community Policing which is the focus of the Government.
The centre is provided with 2 patrol vehicles and an armoured personnel carrier as well as equipped with surveillance cameras that cover large parts of Jos metropolis.


Lalong said “The world is paying attention and embracing the efforts we have made towards restoring normalcy to Plateau State which has resulted in more investors coming into the State while people who left our Plateau because of the ugly events of the past are coming back. We should always bear in mind that there is no way that peace can be legislated or forced on people. Only a genuine desire to cultivate and nurture peace can lead to lasting peace in any society”.
He also laid the foundation for another one at Bauchi Ring Road as part of the consolidating the security and peace of the State.
The Governor inspected some primary school classroom blocks within the gold and base area in Rayfield where he described the quality of work as commendable.

He said so far, his administration has constructed 639 primary and junior secondary schools and renovated another 724 across the 17 local Government Areas of the State.


He also commissioned an office block at the State Universal Basic Education Board where he flagged off the distribution of 55,985 Tables and chairs to all schools in the State. He praised the agency for carrying out its functions diligently and turning around the poor condition of the schools that were inherited from the last administration and also constructing new ones.


He said “In the preceding year, government has paid over 4.2 billion naira as counterpart funding of the Basic Education Programme in Plateau State.The impact of all these can be seen in the transformation of school buildings and provision of conducive teaching and learning environment like the one we are commissioning here today”

Chairman of the Plateau SUBEB Prof. Mathew Sule said the Lalong Rescue Administration has done well to revive education in the State particularly at the foundation level.
