Gov Lalong flags off accelerated revenue drive across 17 LGAs of Plateau

Plateau state Government on Tuesday flagged off accelerated revenue drive across the 17 local government councils of the state .
Our correspondent also reports that 15 field operational vehicles were commissioned for staff of the Plateau state internal revenue service to help them in generating more revenue to the state .
Speaking at the occasion ,Governor Simon Lalong said” in line with one of my administration,s tripod policy of sustainable economic re birth in this second term of office ,i am committed to provide all necessary support needed for the full scale operational activities of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service because here lies the engine room for revenue generation .”
Before us are the enormous challenges that required adequate financial inflow to be able to meet the developmental yearnings of the entire good people of Plateau , Government will not take it lightly if after all these interventions ,there is no corresponding result ,it is therefore important for the staff of Plateau board of internal revenue and other generating agencies to note that this is serious business.
our administration recently signed into law the Plateau state Revenue consolidation bill for the streaming and harmonization of all taxes ,rates ,levies and charges collectible by state MDAs and local government council to help build taxpayer confidence in tax administration and also create a conducive business atmosphere .

I am aware that our revenue service has taken a giant stride in ensuring effective and efficient IGR ,this initiative will go a long way towards harnessing and collecting all revenue accruable to the state in line with our policies and programmes

I charge the state internal revenue service to evolve other strategies that will enable the service achieve its maximum mandate of coordinating all revenue generation efforts across the state .

Speaking earlier. Mr Dashe Arlat said it is our collective resolve as revenue machineries to ensure that all revenue and taxes accruable to Government is achieved as what we are witnessing today is a clear testimony of our set goal through the purchase of fifteen vehicles and commissioning same and the flagging off of accelerated revenue drive in all the seventeen local government areas of the state .
In addition we have commence monitoring and investigation federal MDAs residence in the state ,to recover outstanding tax liabilities through collaboration efforts of joint tax board leading to the recovery of part payment of2.6 billion naira on the 28th may 2019 and we are making frantic efforts towards ensuring that other tax liabilites on PAYE totaling over 19 billion naira from 2005 to 2018 from federal MDAs are paid .
To further achieve the desired goal set by Gov Lalong during the unveiling of the Government 3 pillar policy trust to ensure that the Revenue service generate 2.5 billion monthly or 50 billion naira in the next years ,has embarked on enforcement exercise on defaulting banks and other corporate organisation ,he has created 3 districts with four zonal offices each across the 17 local government ,as well as formation of informal sector technical committee
