Plateau would continue to play a leading role in Youths, Sports development – Lalong

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong ,has expressed his determination to develop sports in the state to boost tourism.

The governor made this known while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Kids junior open tournament at the Rayfield Golf club in Jos yesterday .

Lalong who was represented by the Commissioner of information and communication Hon Yakubu Dati also said Plateau would continue to play a leading role in Youths and sports development.

“This administration is determined to better the lives of citizens of the state .”

He said that he has put the machinery in place to revolutionise sports in the state and appealed to citizens to continue to support him at all times 

Lalong also said he was impressed with the interest of children from Plateau and   urged parents to bring their children to the  Kids golf  academy established in the state in order to learn the game and represent the state whenever the need may arise. 

Also speaking at the occasion  ,the Captain of the Rayfield Golf Club and former commissioner of Police CP Danjuma Auta  said Gov Lalong is doing well in promoting sports in the state.

He said we are delighted to host this competition and we really appreciate our governor Simon Lalong for his efforts at promoting golf in Plateau.

Who knows maybe their could be a future tiger wood among those who participated in the tournament.

Barrister Caleb Dajang  who spoke on behalf of the parents of children who participated in  the tournament also commended the Nigeria Golfers Federation and the Plateau state government for sponsoring the tournament stressing that the kids have benefitted from participating in  the tournament.

Our correspondent reports that over 200 ,children  participated in the tournament .
