Lalong again vows to bring to book pepertrators of Plateau killings

Governor Simon Lalong  of Plateau state on Monday vowed to ensure that perpetrators of the killings in Barkin ladi local government area of the state  are arrested and prosecuted .

He made this  known when he received Mr David Young, Deputy chief of mission ,United States Embassy  in Nigeria and other US embassy officials  who paid him a courtesy call in Government House Little Rayfield,Jos to commiserate with the government and people of Plateau over the unfortunate killings in part of the state ,as well as to  undertake an on the spot assessment of the affected areas and Internal Displaced Persons camps with a view to seeking ways to end the killings . 

Lalong who condemned the killings however    insisted that despite the recent disruption of peace in some parts of the northern senatorial district of the State, the Plateau  still remains the Home of Peace and Tourism.

Governor  Lalong thanked the United states embassy in Nigeria for collaborating  with the Plateau State Peace Building Agency to hold a stakeholders  parley in the troubled  zone.

He assured that the State Government would ensure that perpetrators of this killings  are brought to book according to the law.

Speaking earlier Mr Young commended Gov Lalong for taking some drastic steps in  nipping in the bud the unfortunate destruction   of lives and property which minimized the casualty .

I want to commend the Plateau State Government for taking immediate steps which in no small measure brought the situation under control.

The Deputy  Chief of Mission  also called for punishment for  those arrested in connection to the killings and insisted that they must be made to face the music.

He said the U S embassy valued her partnership with the Plateau State government.
