Gindiri Old Students Association (GOSA) has lauded the appointment of one of its Members, Prof. Ademola Adisa Bello FNSE, FAEng as the Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
GOSA President, Engr Sunday Hyat, FNSE, mni in a congratulatory message through the body’s National Public Relations Officer, Da Yakubu Taddy said the appointment of Prof. Ademola did not come to them as a surprise taking into cognisance the commitment, service and contribution to Engineering Academically and Professionally.
“We are confident this will spur you further in the service of the profession and the Nation”
“We pray and wish you God’s guidance as you serve” the statement said.
They charged the Appointee to be guided by the motto of their Alma Mater which is “For light and truth”
A Professor of Mechanical Engineer, Engr. Adisa, Ademola Bello was born on 3 September 1965. He attended St. Mathew’s Anglican primary school, Kurra Falls and the Boys’ Secondary School, Gindiri, all in Plateau State. He obtained in 1989, the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He obtained the Master of Engineering in Solid Mechanics and Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution.
He took up appointment with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi as a Graduate Assistant in 1991 and rose through the ranks to the present rank of Professor in 2010. He teaches subjects in the area of mechanics and energy studies. In order to cope with the challenges of modern techniques of teaching, he established a web based interaction with his students on his portal: http://www.a.biieeyz.com since 2010. His areas of specialization are in Optimization of Mechanical Design/Systems and Efficient Energy utilization.
He has served and still serving the academic community as an external examiner/assessor in many universities and many professional/academic Journals. He served the ATBU as Director of Centre for Energy Research, Coordinator of postgraduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Head of Mechanical/Production Engineering Department and Director, Centre for Industrial Studies. He has supervised to completion over seventy B. Eng theses, eight PGD theses, eighteen M. Eng theses and seven PhD dissertations (the eighth is awaiting senate approval). He has over seventy-five peer reviewed Journal and conference papers, eight Technical Reports and 15 Public Lectures delivered. He has been sponsoring two prizes in the Department of Mechanical Engineering since the 2012/2013 session at every convocation ceremony. He served on the Governing Council of ATBU for four years. He also served on the Council of the NSE for two years. He served on the Council of COREN for three years. He served as the 11th National Chairman of the NIMechE and have been serving on its Council since 2009. Currently, he serving on the Africa, Asia and the Pacific (AAP) Accord Council.
He is a Fellow of the NSE, NIMechE, AutoEI, SESN and IMC. He will be inducted as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering on the 24th of June 2021. He is also a member of NIM (Chartered), ASME and SPE. He is listed in the International Who’s Who Historical Society (2011 – 2012) as a Professional Educator and the International Registry Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals (2012 – 2013) as a Professor. He is a recipient of some awards: one notable one is the overall second prize at the first National Competition on Design of Process Equipment and Plants organized by the RMRDC, Abuja, Nigeria. He has also been recognized by the President of NSE, The Chief of Army Staff, CED Forum, NIMechE, National Association of Nigerian Universities Students (NANUS) and Association of Northern Nigerian Students (ANNS).
He has been involved in many engineering trainings and community services; including being the lead Judge at the RAEng – NIMechE FAFME Design & Creativity Competition (2020). He has worked with Bauchi State Government on the Yankari Resort and Safari Redevelopment. Nationally, he worked with Centre for Space Technology Development (CSTD), on the SPIRE PROJECT and Energy Commission of Nigeria (under the Renewable Energy Master Plan, National Energy Master Plan and the National Energy Policy).
He enjoys traveling, reading, playing football and badminton. He has travelled to almost all states in Nigeria. Outside Nigeria, He has been to Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Northern Cyprus, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and a few others. He is married and blessed with children.
