GOC 3 Division Jos Carries Out Familiarisation Visit to Security Agencies in Plateau State, Underscores Inter-agency Collaboration

As part of efforts to strengthen security in Plateau State, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, has commenced a courtesy visit to various security agencies and paramilitary organizations. The tour underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing the complexities of security challenges in the region.

During his visit to the Nigeria Police Headquarters in Jos, Major General Oyinlola underscored the importance of synergy among security agencies, describing it as “sacrosanct.” He emphasized that a unified front is essential in combating threats posed by terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements affecting the peace and stability of the state. “We must continue to work together to bring a swift end to insecurity in Plateau,” he stated, encouraging ongoing dialogue with community stakeholders to foster peaceful coexistence. He also expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adeshina, for his unwavering support and collaboration with the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN.

In response, CP Adeshina lauded the GOC for prioritizing the Police Headquarters as the first security agency for his courtesy visit. “We have a common enemy—those who threaten the safety and security of our state,” he stated, affirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police to work hand-in-hand with the Nigerian Army. Adeshina commended the GOC for the deployment of competent military officers, noting the professionalism exhibited by the personnel of the Nigerian Army in the ongoing operations.

The GOC’s visit extended to the Department of State Services (DSS), where he commended the agency for its essential role in providing actionable intelligence that has significantly bolstered military operations. He remarked, “The success of our operations in Plateau depends largely on the accurate intelligence provided by the DSS,” highlighting the critical need for continuous collaboration.

DSS Director Paul Damian reciprocated the GOC’s sentiments, expressing admiration for the Armed Forces and the strong working relationship shared between the DSS and the Nigerian Army. “The Nigerian Army has proven to be the backbone in the fight against terrorism and crime in our country,” Damian commented. He acknowledged the timely response of Operation SAFE HAVEN to intelligence reports, which has been instrumental in maintaining peace in Plateau State. “You have my utmost support to ensure that the division fulfills its mandate for a peaceful and prosperous Plateau,” he assured General Oyinlola.

At the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Headquarters, the GOC reiterated the necessity of ending inter-agency rivalry and fostering a climate of cooperation among all security outfits. “A safe and secure Plateau is a glory to all security agencies in the state. We must foster synergy amongst ourselves to succeed in our respective missions,” he remarked.

State Commandant Ishaku Musa expressed gratitude for the GOC’s visit, calling him a blessing to the state. He pledged 100 percent support from the NSCDC to the Nigerian Army, emphasizing the vital role the Army has played in training and equipping the Corps, including weapon handling and intelligence sharing. “We always enjoy a symbiotic relationship with the Nigerian Army, and I assure you of our continuous support,” Musa affirmed.

The visit culminated in the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph to commemorate the historic event, symbolizing the commitment of these agencies to work collaboratively in safeguarding the peace of Plateau State.

As security agencies unite under a common mission, the hope for a more secure and stable Plateau grows stronger. The emphasis on collaboration, mutual respect, and shared intelligence marks a promising step toward overcoming the challenges posed by insecurity, ensuring that the safety and well-being of communities remain a top priority.
