Plateau State Governor Da Jonah Jang has rewarded a cash award to two football players who featured in the 2012 Glo soccer Academy competition. Abdulrahaman Umar and Yakubu Aliyu who were the only two players selected at the Glo Soccer Academy from the Northern part of the country received N1 million each from the Governor while their coach received N1 million.

The boys who were selected out of a thousand partakers from four countries will attend Manchester United Academy later in the year. While receiving the boys in his office, Governor Jang voiced out his excitement for Nigeria’s football revival. Jang used the opportunity to once again congratulate the Super Eagles for winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). He stated that just like some Nigerians he was sceptical of Coach Stephen Keshi but was proven wrong when the coach led the team to victory.

Governor Jang had earlier congratulated the victorious Super Eagles immediately after AFCON 2013 ended. He was happy that Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Ogonye Onazi and Sunday Mba who played in the Super Eagles team had affiliation with Plateau.
