Press Release

CALL FOR APPOINTMENT OF YOUNG PERSONS AS COMMISSIONERS AND TO BE GENDER SENSITIVE IN APPOINTMENTS

We are all aware that the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Simon Bako Lalong dissolved all Commissioners in his Cabinet on 8th February, 2018 in a letter signed by the Director of Press, Mr. Samuel Nanle.

We join many in expressing our happiness and supports for the dissolution as it was long overdue.

Following the dissolution, we wish to draw the attention of the government to consider young people and be gender sensitive when appointing his next set of Commissioners, this is so because we have observed that young persons were not involved or part of all the dissolved Commissioners.

There is need to have youth appointed commissioners and women should be given attention in the next appointment as women representation in the past commissioners were poor.

We look forward to seeing credibility, technical competence, integrity, experience and above all fear of God in the next Commissioners which was lacking in the immediate past commissioners.

The Governor should be well-guided in his choices and not place compensation of party loyalists without sound competencies and capabilities.

Credible and competent Commissioners with proven integrity and good antecedents have the propensity to taking the State to greatness and development.

There are young people and women who over time have demonstrated enough capacities, competence, credibility, integrity, expertise and fear of God that could be considered for appointments across the 17 LGAs to transform the fortunes of the State and take the State to enviable height.
There are many young professionals who are excelling and doing the State and nation proud who could be called to serve as Commissioners.

Our advocacy has always been in the best interest of the State and nation at large to focus on issues that will promote Peace, unity, cohesion and development all the time.

Thank you.
