FUEL SCARCITY PERSISTS IN JOS, PLATEAU STATE CAPITAL AND ENVIRONS
Fuel scarcity being experienced Nationwide has reached its peak in Jos, the Plateau State Capital as most Filling Stations lack the product.
The scarcity of PMS in Jos and its environs continue to bite really hard with its attending consequences being felt by the people.
ViewPointNigeria visited some Filling Stations in Jos and met most in locks and keys.
The few stations that are dispensing are doing so at exorbitant prices of between N200-N250 per Litre according to consumers.
The NNPC Mega Station along Yakubu Gowon to Murtala Mohammed Way has long queue which could take a consumer the whole day before he may be lucky to get PMS.
Black marketers especially those selling around the Mega Station are making heavy profits as they sell the product between N1,300 to N1,400 per gallon.
Major roads in Jos most especially the expressway are filled with people who wants to travel but are finding it quite difficult as even those going to one part of the city to another find it difficult to get taxis to their destinations. Even when taxis are gotten, drivers have hiked the transport fares by N50-N70 in some cases.
Some of the Filling Stations visited by our reporters included Mobil Opp. Plateau State Polytechnic Jos Campus, Oando, Akemmana&Co., Simpol Oil Nigeria Ltd, Jofemba Global Ventures and Mambol Brothers all along Tudun Wada Road, Bok Investment around Sparkling Junction, Kim Oil at Building Material Market, Taen, Tonimas along Yakubu Gowon Way, Total Domkat Bali Road who had no fuel with NNPC Mega Station Dogon Karfe, Basaco and Taen dispensing with unbearable queues. The long queue being witnessed at NNPC Mega Station stretched to Jay-FM from the Station.
When contacted for information, the NNPC Mega Station Manager decline making comment as he said he wasn’t in the best position to do so.
The Department of Petroleum Resouces (DPR) has called on the general public to report any Fuel Station engaged in hoarding Fuel or selling above the official all price of N145/Litre as contained below;
“Please report any fuel station hoarding or selling above N145 per litre to Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on 08058298820.
Please share with all your contacts.”
Many complained that the fuel scarcity has made life unbearable and very hard and pray the issue will be addressed as soon as possible.
Earlier today, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who also doubles as the Petroleum Resources Minister, His Excellency Alh. Muhammadu Buhari has sympathised with Nigeria over the prolonged fuel scarcity, saying it is regrettable. This is contained in our report below:
