Jos — Patrons and founders of the Mighty Jets Football Club of Jos at the weekend dissolved the management committee of the club and appointed Barrister Timothy Buba as Chairman and Muhammad Baba Otu as General Manager.

The decision of the patrons was contained in a letter written to the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong dated 21/10/2015 and signed by the founder’s president Ali Promoter.

The letter which was made available to sports writers in Jos, noted that it became necessary to dissolve the Godfrey Hamza led management committee due to corruption and misappropriation of over N350 million.

It stated that Hamza had gone ahead to declare himself as a new director and incorporated a new name for the club at the Cooperate Affairs Commission.

“This behaviour shows how corrupt, criminal minded and dubious the chairman is which negate the present principle of change which this present administration has been propagating,” it said.

The founders claimed that the chairman had proposed a budget of N170, 488,071 million, for the 2014 season, of which former Governor Jonah Jang had approved the sum of N150,488,071 million but said no salaries had been paid to the players.

“The management has collected over N350, 000,000 million from the state government and the sales of players for the past three years but to our greatest surprise, for all these years, salaries were not paid, more than four times, no promotion and the club has just managed to escape being relegated to lower division against the performance of Plateau United,” the letter reads in part.

The founders called on Governor Lalong to probe the ousted management of all allegations to serve as a deterrent to others.

However, when contacted, Godfrey Hamza said Ali Promoter was not recognised as a founder of the team and said approved budget by the previous administration was not completely paid to him.

“We have been paying salaries to the players, Promoter should not complain on behalf of the players over non payment of salaries because no one has complained. I have given my financial record to the transition committee on sports and I have also giving them my outstanding debts that was not paid to me by the government,” Hamza said.
