Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau on Tuesday implored those he offended in the course of his duty as the state’s helmsman to forgive him.
Mr. Jang made the appeal at a town hall meeting with the people of Shendam Local Government Area, as he traversed the state to garner support for the People’s Democratic Party in the forthcoming elections.

The governor said if he had offended anybody, it was not deliberate; pointing out that it was because of his human nature and the exigency of the office he occupies.

He said it is human to err and that it is not easy for any government, in eight years, to satisfy everybody.
Mr. Jang, however, called on everyone to keep faith with the PDP, stressing that the party would not disappoint them.

Mr. Jang, however, called on everyone to keep faith with the PDP, stressing that the party would not disappoint them.

“I am here so that the PDP can be delivered and because PDP has performed, the party has not disappointed Plateau.
“It is God almighty who has handed over Nigeria to the PDP and the party will continue to rule the country.
“We should all support Jonathan, let us give him the best votes in the whole northern states as we did in 2011 and we are going to repeat that feat.

“We will guarantee Jonathan nothing less than 1.8 million votes in Plateau,’’ he said.
Senator Gyang Pwajok, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, said the party was prepared to consolidate on the things it got right, to improve on the welfare of the people.

Mr. Pwajok advised supporters of the party not to indulge in any form of violence during the elections.
“We differ from those who think that elections can only be won by the use of weapons, as we know that elections are won through the ballot papers.

“We pray that God will give you the calmness and willingness to forgive those who may want to cause trouble.
“The PDP wants to continue to meet the people’s needs, recognised as the essence of democracy and governance,’’ he said.
The House of Representatives candidate for Shendam Federal Constituency, Johnbull Shekarau, said the people of the area had always supported the PDP.

“The problem is not about the victory of the PDP, but managing the victory because our people love PDP and they will remain with the PDP,’’ he said.

The council chairman, Nicholas Nshe, said the people were not leaving any stone unturned to ensure victory for the party in the area.
Mr. Nshe said Shendam people had a pact with the PDP government in the state and they would not renege on it.
“The people are still solidly behind the PDP,’’ he said.
