A socio-cultural group Plateau, Our Heritage (POH) has lauded the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alh. Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for addressing one of the demands of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) by approving the Constitution of Visitation Panels to 38 Federal Universities and Inter-University Centres.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Hon. Alex Yola Kwapnoe and Secretary, Cmr. Friday Bako, the group said the gesture will go a long way to address certain issues that have adversely affected Federal Universities and Interuniversity Centres in Nigeria.
The group also appreciated President Buhari for finding some illustrious Sons and Daughters of Plateau State worthy of appointment as Chairman and Members of the visitation panels.
“This goes to indicate the trust and confidence reposed on those appointed and their ability to deliver the herculean tasks creditably well” the group posited.
The statement said Worthy of mention include the appointment of Prof. Monday Mwangvwat as the Chairman Visitation Panel to Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, Prof. Danladi Slim Matawal Member University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof. Mrs Patricia Lar Member NINLAN Aba, Abia State, Prof. Bonaventure Nkup Haruna Member University of Ilorin, Mrs Anna Fakkah (CNA) Member Usman Danfodiyo University, Prof. Otsanjugu A T Namo University of Port Harcourt, Mr. Frederick Durlong Member Moddibo Adama Uni of Tech Yola, Col. Danladi Nyelong Adamu (CNA) Member University of Abuja, Mr. Luka Yusuf Gambo Member University of Agriculture Makurdi, Arc. John Alkali Member National Open University of Nigeria, Prof. Mrs Fungvel Bibiana Bawa Member Federal University Lafia, Sen. The group disclosed that those appointed are men & women of substance who have distinguished themselves as well as contributing greatly to Nation building.
It urged those appointed to put in their best to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them by Mr. President.
The group promised to accord the appointees the needed support to enable them succeed.
