There was a moment of brainstorming and exchange of ideas on the best way to achieve peace at the Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the instance of the New Commander Operation Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Sallahu Isa who assumed Office on Tuesday 13th July, 2021.
Stakeholders comprising of Traditional Rulers, Political Leaders and Journalists have said a lot is expected from the New Commander to change the tide and tackle the insecurity bedevilling the State and the Joint Operation Area.
The Stakeholders also assured the New Commander of their cooperation and support to bring an end to the rising insecurity in the State.
In his remarks, Maj. Gen. IS Isa said the security outfit will not relent to ensure that lasting peace is restored in the entire Joint Operation Area which informed his visit to Zagon Kataf upon assumption of office to seek the cooperation of the people to overcome criminality.
He frowned at underage grazing, grazing near farmlands, destruction of farm crops, killing and rustling of Cows, proliferation of firearms by criminals and harbouring of criminals, acts he said must stop.
He assured the public that he will work in synergy with all stakeholders to achieve a more peaceful, secured and safer Joint Operation Area.
He urged them to have confidence and trust the security outfit as it will work to ensure that peace is restored.
“For peace to reign, all hands must be on deck and all stakeholders must be deliberate in the peace process” he said.
The Commander also lauded the roles played by Media Practitioners in promoting peace and harped on the need for balanced and objective reportage.
He said greater synergy between the Outfit and the Media will aid in achieving lasting peace.
He made these known during a familiarization parley with the Media Practitioners.
Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Isa is the New General Officer Commanding 3 Division and he is also to serve as the Commander of the Special Task Force codenamed Operation Safe Haven.
