Eleventh edition of  Golfers Association of Nigeria, PGAN,qualifying school opens in Jos

 Eleventh edition of Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria, PGAN,qualifying school has opened in Jos the plateau state capital with eighty one amateur candidates competing to become professionals.

Performing the ceremonial Tee Off,life vice president of PGAN and  Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong,said it is the desire of his administration to promote tourism through the game of golf giving the fact that the state has the oldest golf course in the country, which was established in 1913.

Lalong disclosed that the state has two golf academies in Rayfield and Lamingo golf clubs as  platforms for the  young to embrace the game

Director of PGAN,Samson Lawal,said the association has raised the benchmark of the qualifying school to meet international standard and best practice in the whole world

Captain of the host club,Tang Dapoet is optimistic that hosting the event has a positive socio- economic benefit to the state

The PGAN qualifying school is in two parts which are playing ability  and class work.

To qualify, each candidate is expected to play twenty one over  gross in fifty four hole over three days and  60% in class work.

The event ends this Saturday with a special kitty where the qualified professionals would play against the amateurs.
