As Muslims across the globe observe the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Senator Simon Mwadkwon, PhD, former Senate Minority Leader of Nigeria’s 10th Senate, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah. He also urged them to display true patriotism and rededicate themselves to the task of nation-building.
Senator Mwadkwon called on Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) by living exemplary lives rooted in compassion, humility, and service to humanity.
Highlighting the role of patriotic citizens in the country’s progress, the Senator expressed strong optimism about Nigeria’s future. He emphasized that greater national achievements are attainable if Nigerians embrace one another regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences.
He called for interfaith and interethnic harmony as crucial tools for fostering national cohesion, progress, and transformation.
Senator Mwadkwon encouraged Muslim faithful to use the sacred period to demonstrate genuine love, care for the less privileged, and uphold the spirit of unity and oneness. According to him, Nigeria is in dire need of purposeful unity, hence the urgent need for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
He further charged adherents of Islam to pray for leaders at all levels and for the overall peace and development of the nation.
“For national progress and development to be attained, Nigerians must be deliberate in pursuing unity and true patriotism,” he said. “It is important that people tolerate one another and cohabit peacefully and harmoniously. Citizens must be promoters of peace, unity, and togetherness” the Senator was quoted saying.
Senator Mwadkwon admonished Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to contributing their quota toward national unity, growth, and development.
He concluded by praying for a peaceful, joyous, and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
