Dr. Simon Mwadkwon Raises Motion on Renewed Hostilities in Constituency at the National Assembly

REP. SIMON MWADKWON MOVES MOTION ON RENEWED HOSTILITIES IN CONSTITUENCY ON THE FLOOR OF THE NASS

Pained by the renewed hostilities in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas which led to the killings of several persons including two Monarchs (District and Ward Heads), the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, Dr. Simon Mwadkwon has moved a motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the House of Representatives after craving the indulgence of the House to step down the relevant rules for him to present the motion.

Rep. Simon Mwadkwon expressed dismay over renewed attacks, constant harassment and killings in his Constituency which has left many displaced and greatly affected their means of livelihood.

In his prayers, the Lawmaker urged the Federal Government as a matter of emergency release the Ten Billion Naira as promised by the Vice President, His Excellency Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on 25th June, 2018 when over 200 persons were killed and many communities razed to help resettle the displaced persons and assist to curb the insecurity in the area.

He also mandated the Committee on National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant government agencies to urgently swing into action to help supply all affected communities with food and other relief materials to assist them rebuild their destroyed communities.

Dr. Mwadkwon also called on the House of Representatives to mandate the Committee on Police Affairs and the National Assembly, especially the House of Representatives to prevail on the Inspector General of Police to fulfill the promise of the pronouncement he made to establish the MOPOL 65 Squadron Mobile Base in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi LGA to help stop the constant killings and destruction of farmlands.

He finally called on the House to urge the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute the Killers of the two Monarchs and other citizens of the Local Governments that were killed as well as arrest and prosecute the Perpetuators of Cattle Rustling, destruction of crops and all other acts of criminality within the Constituency.

The House unanimously supported and endorsed the motion.
